How We Came to Play: The History of Playgrounds”

A very interesting article on the study of playgrounds, by Kaitlin O’Shea, at the National Trust for Historic Preservation blog.

A field that has potencial in contemporary archaeology studies and which reminded me of the Archaeology of Zoos project. This video by Cornelius Holtorf can explain a bit more.
Also, I just realized that the discovery of the “World’s First Zoo”, in Hierakonpolis, Egypt (c.3500BC) was considered one of the Top 10 Discoveries of 2009 by the Archaeology magazine.
