That’s how Jonathan Jones starts his article for The Guardian: Tutankhamun does not deserve this 21st-century desecration.
The author considers “crass and morbid” the digital images representing the Egyptian mummy that came up after the scanning project that recently took place. I tend to agree, specially with the consideration that “like any scientific breakthrough, these techniques need to be used with intelligence and sensitivity”. New technologies are a great opportunity for the development of the archaeological field, but should those developments be made at the expense of loosing the fascination and mistery of the subject? Couldn’t this breakthrough discovery be communicated better?
